Overview
An overhung latrine is built above the surface of water bodies like rivers
or lakes. From the drop hole in the base the excreta falls straight into
water and decomposes there over a period of time. It is usually made of
light weight material like bamboo, wood,
tin sheets. It may or may not have a roof. It is usually supported by bamboo
and mangrove stilts. The flooring is also of bamboo slatswith a hole at the
center.No treatment is done to the excreta.Features
