| The
task force on interlinking rivers has constituted an independent group
of experts to examine alternative proposals from various people to the
river-linking plan.
Another group -- the communication core group for mass awareness -- has also been formed with the specific purpose of monitoring news regarding the interlinking project. This group will highlight the benefits and prepare a list of eminent persons who can write on the subject. The vice-president of the task force, V B Patel, will head the group. The two-member independent group of experts comprises professor emeritus of the All-India Council for Technical Education, P B S Sarma and former IIT professor, Subhash Chander. The group will examine the soundness of the project’s hydrological and hydraulic aspects, cost-benefit projections and also assess proposals for inclusion in the project.
