Campaign in AP

Dear Friends,

Here is a brief note on the ongoing campaign for disclosures in Andhra Pradesh. 300 rallies were organized all over the state with an estimated participation of 1,50,000 people on 2nd October. There is wide public support of disclosures as anticipated. This certainly is an important
rallying point to mobilize public opinion in favour of broader electoral and governance reforms.

In the 2nd phase, we are seeking peoples verdict whether or not they want full disclosures of criminal and financial records of candidates contesting for electoral office. These polls will be conducted between 27th October and 1st November throughout the state in select places. The
polls already conducted (5000 people) by us show that there is overwhelming support (over 99 %) in favour of disclosures. This polling will be through secret ballot, and the ballots will be counted in the presence of neutral obs In the 3rd phase, irrespective of the status of  the law, a campaign of " No disclosure - No vote" will be launched urging people to choose only those candidates who come forward with full disclosures.
