FRLHT
(Foundation for Revitalisation of Local Health Traditions)
No.74/2, Jarakabande Kaval, Post: Attur, Via Yelahanka, Bangalore-560 064. Ph: 8565890 / 8565873.

FRLHT was founded in 1993 with the conviction that the revitalization of the Indian Medical Hertiage holds two promises for India- self-reliance in primary health care, for millions of households and thepossibility for original contributions to the world of medicine. FRLHT belives  that in this era of globalization, India should make fuller use of her rich and diverse medicinal plant knowledge for her own needs as well as confidently share with the rest of the world products and service based on her heritage on fair terms.

In a societal context, FRLHT couldbe categorized as an unconventional "educational" institution. It is unconventional because the subjects on which its work is focused viz. (a) conservation of medicinal plants (b) revitalization of local health traditions are not subjects in which conventional educational institutionas are actively engaged in. Furthermore, FRLHT's educational vision is not limited to the stereotyped forms of education. Its educational activities encompass what in educational circles would be called " Action Research", where the attempt is to learn from actually undertaking pilot scale experiments. The FRLHT educational agenda includes designing and promoting upscaled projects based on the pilot experiments programs based on the pilot experiments. The real life  experiences also provide inputs to FRLHT's training programs & extension services. Effective interventions, which help invigorate institutions as well as social traiditons, and people-to-people processes that transmit our medical heritage.

Past five years FLRHT was engaged in an action research named Documentation and Rapid Assessment of Local Health Traditions in South India. With aim of promoting best traditional health care practices. During  this program the team behind this has developed a methodology and tools to systematically document the traditional practices and were also engaged in training governmental and non-governmental agencies on these modules. FRLHT is hosting a training program at its new campus from April 14th to 16th, 2003  at Jarakbande Kaval, Yelhanka, Bangalore-64.

Details of the training are mentined below. As the entry is only for 10 agencies for this training we request you to get back to us as early as possible through email/fax/courier/phone.
