    CED & RDCs

    CED, in association with Architecture and Development (A & D), Praxis & ISED is setting up RDCs, focusing on the rehabilitation and the long-term development needs of communities in South India affected by the tsunami.

    We have launched a website www.rdc.net.in aiming at information dissemination among its partners, local organisations and activists. 

     

    FILM & BACKGROUNDER

    The film NAMMA KADALKARAI, NAMMA URIMAI(Our Coast, Our Right) was screened in various parts of the Tsunami affected areas.  We have edited the film and the new version includes the feedback of people and activists. This film is aimed to educate local communities, promote the right to information, people’s right to know, determine and participate in their own development particularly their re-development/rehabilitation.

    NAMMA KADALKARAI, NAMMA URIMAI: This backgrounder, explains the Coastal Regulation Zone and the economics and politics of its implementation from the point of view of the Local Communities, is now available in Tamil and English.

    City Farming - film on Urban Agriculture

    City farming is an innovative technology which deals with farming in urban areas and essentially on terraces, balconies and even on the walls of civil constructions.  Dr.R T Doshi has perfected a method of growing fruits and vegetables for domestic consumption, which involves relatively low labour input, organic production methods and very high yields.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    Diploma Course in Dalit Studies

    A new two year diploma course in Dalit Studies is being launched by Booshakthi Kendra, in Tumkur.

    The course aims at providing a learning space for young Dalit women and men for a limited period of two years. It is the aim of the Course that such young women and men will transform themselves into effective instruments in the hands of the Dalit people for their holistic liberation.

    National Conference on Electoral Reforms

    The Third National Conference on Electoral Reforms to be held on February 11, 12  (Saturday and Sunday) in Patna, jointly hosted by the Association for Democratic Reforms ADR) and Lok Samvad of Bihar.
