of working with men as well as with women to build the confidence to do
things differently. It is time to find ways of thinking and analyzing gender
that makes sense of the complexity of people's lives."

Objectives
of the workshop include:
- Examining
the meanings and the ' politics of masculinity'
- Understanding
the triangulation between gender, masculinities and development.
- Exploring
strategies to engage with men as potential agents of transformative
change, without compromising current commitments to the advancement of
women.
- Familiarizing
participants with participatory and creative methodologies for
application at the field level

Participants
The workshop
is designed for senior staff of NGOs, CBOs and other Civil Society
Organizations in India. The medium of communication will be
English.
Facilitators
Dr. Shekar
Sheshadiri , Professor of Child Psychiatry at NIMHANS, Bangalore will be
the main facilitator. Dr. Sheshadiri has done considerable work
in the area of gender and masculinities using participatory and creative
methodologies. Mercy Kappen will join him as a co-facilitator,
besides other resource persons who will be invited for specific sessions.
Methodology
The methodology will be participatory in nature and will include
group discussions,
case studies, role plays, audio-visuals, input sessions etc.
Workshop
fee and registration
The workshop
fee is Rs. 1500 /-(Rupees one thousand five hundred only).This
will cover the cost of board and lodging, and training materials.
Interested candidates are requested to fill in the enclosed form and mail it to us
before the 5th of March with a cheque / draft for Rs.1500/- drawn in
favour of Visthar, Bangalore. A few scholarships are available on
request and on a 'first come first serve basis'.
