HAPPENINGS
For our ongoing
documentation project on the Status of Education in India, we
require information from individuals and organisations involved in
the field of alternative education. This material can be in the form
of Methodologies and case studies that give an overview to the kind
of work that the organisation or person is involved in. This effort
will culminate in a workshop at Timbaktu Collective, Anantpur,
Andhra Pradesh, where through an exchange of ideas between like
minded organisations, the practice of alternative education can get
the necessary impetus it needs to go mainstream. Contact Tanvi for
more details.

Dancing To
Global Capital. by Pranjali Bandhu. Price Rs. 150/- VAK
Globalisation
is running roughshod over the Indian economy, mortgaging it to the
imperialist robbers and usurers. The media and communication system
are being used to further this neocolonial shacking. The book
presents some aspects of how the sphere of information technology,
internet, telecommunications, television, cinema, the newspaper and
publishing industries are being affected in their economic structures
and content by the globalisation process. The end result is before
us: the spread of Brahminical, fascistic, communal, sexist,
imitative, consumerist mentality, which is obstructing the
development of democratic political set-ups and self-reliant and
equitable national economies.
