You can avail of the Book borrowing facility by paying a deposit. Library members also have access to CED computers at CED for their research related research work and this includes internet access). As a library member, we offer you 40% discount on CED publications. You can now phone in, email or post your information requirements. Instead of the easier per page basis, we will take down your research requirements, and send you information from our archives or from other libraries and the Internet, as well as on-going monitoring and collection of information, depending on your requirements. Instead of the per page charge, we will quote you a fee based on research time and documentation costs relating to your particular requests.
NGOs, and Campaign organisations can now give us their special documentation requirements in advance, and we will quote you a flat fee for say a full year. Those NGOs or Organisations, which have a major documentation component can now enter into a partnership with us. What we can do is draw up a proposal and submit the same jointly for funding. CED is not inclined to undertake pure public relations type documentation.
CED FELLOWSHIP
If you are planning to undertake documentation, research or publication in any of CED priority areas, and you need an institution to affiliate to and a library to work from, you can join CED as a fellow. Under this arrangement, you apply for funding through CED and the budget budget itself will provide for lump sum / pro-rata use of CED facilities, much like an University Department. NOTE ON OUR CHARGESWhy should a Centre like ours charge users?
As an NGO we have been getting funds, but these have been drying up.. Most of the donors feel that the beneficiaries need to contribute to the effort, and have encouraged us to raise a part of our expenses from our users.. We charge you, not for the information content or the value of the information or the commodity. Our charges should be recognised as your contribution to cover a part of the expenses of organising this information for you.
